Lovers in Japan - hand pulled screen print by Jon Mackay
This was an illustration I produced whilst on a site visit to Cornbury Park for Wilderness Festival a few years ago. I loved the idea of dappled light through the trees on the spring day that I did my initial sketches and drawings.
My brother used to live in Akita and then Tokyo in Japan some years ago and I've been lucky enough to visit a few times - one time being in spring to see the Japanese blossom at the time he got married.
The combination of these memories and ideas I used in this print - again, part memory, part reality.
