Moonshadow II - hand pulled silk screen print by Jon Mackay
Landscape and the outdoors is a reoccurring theme in my work over the last few years. I am often drawn to the idea of being small in a big world as well as a sense of fragility. I like the idea of the viewer's personal narrative that is constructed when viewing the image. I also like to link my prints to different memories, the title of this print comes from the track 'Moonshadow' by Cat Stevens, a song that forever reminds me of listening to my parents record collection as a child!
This print was based on sketches I made whilst visiting the Isle of Mull in Scotland. I loved the isolation of the island and the stillness of the place. I highly recommend a visit if you are so inclined!
